Cue the punch lines: Tony Romo will have more kids than playoff wins.
Got a call from a Cowboys' source in Oxnard Wednesday night. We were talking about the quarterback's health, his training camp performance and my column defending him from an asinine attack by a former Houston Texan. Near the end of the conversation he blurted out something about Tony's "new arrival." Wait, what the what?!
Sure enough, Romo and wife Candice Crawford just recently found out they are pregnant for the second time.
Crawford, the former pageant queen who married Romo in Dallas in May 2011, gave birth to Hawkins in April 2012. The quarterback was the proudest of papas when he showed off his bouncing boy at training camp in Oxnard last summer.
Don't worry, haters, this second pregnancy shouldn't be a football distraction as - according to my sketchy math and flimsy grasp of the process - the child will be born next May before the Cowboys get too serious about the 2014 season. But no denying the fact that Romo's two kids will outnumber his lone playoff success - a win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2009 season.
We probably shouldn't expect a formal announcement from the couple. Romo casually revealed pregnancy No. 1 during a visit to Cedar Hill High School.

Cowboys Move Headquarters (and Training Camp?) to Frisco
With a domed practice field and state-of-the-art amenities, why will the Cowboys ever leave Frisco?
Worst-kept secret in sports was made official this morning when the Cowboys announced their intention to move headquarters from Valley Ranch to Frisco in time for the 2016 season. Only new nugget out of today's presser was the fact that - as part of the 25-year agreement - the Cowboys will annually hold one week of training camp in the Collin County suburb. I guess I'm wondering why the $115 facility isn't good enough to host all of training camp?
Lots of NFL teams now train at their own digs. The Cowboys once left the Dallas' heat for the cooler climes of Southern California. But I watched them win three Super Bowls in four years while spending their summer outdoors in sweltering Austin. Bottom line: Training-camp weather - unless you're a member of the spoiled, whiny media - is the most overrated thing in sports.
And one more thing on the Collin County Cowboys:
I hear a couple folks moaning about more "welfare" for Jerry Jones. Look, Jerry makes a lot of mistakes. Most of them are personnel moves. But when talking about him being greedy or looking for welfare handouts, his critics conveniently forget this point: When Cowboys Stadium was built the City of Arlington pledged $325 million. Likewise Jerry.
But in the end, he forked over another $900 million - almost a billion - of his own money to construct what he believed to be the world's biggest, bestest sports stadium. So call him whatever you'd like, but also acknowledge that businessmen willing to spend that much of their own money are assets, not liabilities.
In 2012 Arlington's tax revenue reached an all-time high, the city is enjoying an unprecedented level of national relevance, and - thanks to the new AT&T naming rights - will pay off its stadium debt 10 years early.
Just like Arlington, Frisco will get more than the appropriate bang for its bucks on this new facility.

*TMZ and its forced, faux chemistry led by Harvey Whatshizname should be embarrassed by this lame attempt at sensationalizing Jerry's innocuous words. Make that word - "Yes."
*Former Houston Texans' first-round bust Travis Johnson is the latest to irrationally rip on Tony Romo. 1. Travis, you're late to the party. 2. Travis, who the hell are you? Oh, you're the 15th overall pick that produced a whopping three sacks in six years. Shut the hell up.
*And the NFL wins again. Friday night's fake game against the Raiders on CBS 11 earned the Cowboys an 8.4 TV rating, ahead of the streaking Rangers' win over the Astros on TXA 21 (6.2). Translation: CBS being blackballed by Time Warner Cable is the only thing that can slow down Dallas' dominance.

Cowboys Connecting with AT&T, and Other Stuff We've Learned During the First Week of Training Camp
I won't make it out to Cowboys' training camp in Oxnard, California for another two weeks, but have been able to glean some info by talking to those who have seen every snap from one vantage point (scouts) or another (players) during this first week.
As the Cowboys hit their first off day, this is what we think we know:
10. No shocker, but Dez Bryant is again stealing the show. Physically dominating cornerbacks and catching everything thrown his way. And he's even talking to the media, which is an encouraging sign of maturity and growth.
9. Because he's one of several players nursing a hamstring injury, Jeremy Parnell so far is doing nothing to push Doug Free at right tackle.
8. Coaches like new outside linebacker Justin Durant's athleticism so much that he's on the field in Nickel packages as well.
7. Among the draft picks, safety J.J. Wilcox is already turning heads and making an impact with ball-hawking aggressiveness. Cornerback B.W. Webb has been a flop.
6. Tony Romo's full of extra pounds and full of hyperbole. He told Sirius XM's Gil Brandt this week that this was the "most complete team" he's been on as a Cowboy. The '07 team won 13 games and featured 13 Pro Bowl players. Let's all just chill.

5. Most pleasant surprise of camp? Undrafted rookie receiver Eric Rogers (Cal Lutheran). Uses his big body (6-3) to shield defenders and makes catches in traffic as well as anyone on the field.
4. Even after his minor surgery, coaches are worried about the long-term condition of defensive end Anthony Spencer's knee. Should be ready for the season opener. Should.
3. No secret to when new/old defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin is pissed. Several times already he's thrown his cap to the field in disgust.
2. Biggest concern so far is the lack of depth at defensive tackle, where the temporary loss of Jay Ratliff is exposing the position. Ben Bass looks like a legit contributor, however.
1. Cowboys have called a "major business-related press conference" for Noon today at Cowboys Stadium. If you've been paying attention in here you already know what it. AT&T ring a bell?
