Got a call from a Cowboys' source in Oxnard Wednesday night. We were talking about the quarterback's health, his training camp performance and my column defending him from an asinine attack by a former Houston Texan. Near the end of the conversation he blurted out something about Tony's "new arrival." Wait, what the what?!
Sure enough, Romo and wife Candice Crawford just recently found out they are pregnant for the second time.
Crawford, the former pageant queen who married Romo in Dallas in May 2011, gave birth to Hawkins in April 2012. The quarterback was the proudest of papas when he showed off his bouncing boy at training camp in Oxnard last summer.
Don't worry, haters, this second pregnancy shouldn't be a football distraction as - according to my sketchy math and flimsy grasp of the process - the child will be born next May before the Cowboys get too serious about the 2014 season. But no denying the fact that Romo's two kids will outnumber his lone playoff success - a win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2009 season.
We probably shouldn't expect a formal announcement from the couple. Romo casually revealed pregnancy No. 1 during a visit to Cedar Hill High School.
