Dallas Dream Team: Our All-Time Fantasy Roster, 00-99

When I say No. 22, who ya got?
The Cowboys' all-time best runner? Their all-time best rusher? Perhaps the second all-time scorer in the history of the Mavericks? Or, maybe the guy who scored the clinching goal for the Stars' only championship?
Sorry, we can only choose one. Because this is a quest to attach a Dallas/Fort Worth player to every sports uniform from 00 to 99. A fantasy roster Dream Team, if you will.
The criterion for determining which local athlete "owns" a specific number is as simple as it is subjective. It's not necessarily the best player to wear the number, but more so an associative combination of performance, personality, pizzazz and perseverance.

  1. RW, a little concerned about the payment announcement. Folks might be having a little "sticker shock"...

  2. LOL, 0-99 "Dallas Dream Team"? Could you not have come up with some appealing content to at least make people consider paying the $5? This is hilarious

  3. I'll start paying when you re-team with Greggo. Our city will be freezing over tonight, but that's not close enough.

  4. I don't get it, so Richie is writing articles for like 5 people to read? What's the point?

    1. Needs money I guess. He didn't get the memo that blogging is for personal satisfaction of spreading your ideas, not a direct paycheck from your readers. Maybe a paycheck if you have something extremely unique, ground breaking, or just tons of viewers where advertising will actually pay something meaningful. Safe to say none of those apply here so the countdown until it's switched back to free but has half the readers begins.

  7. Man, these people ^^^^^ are bitter! At least tell us what we'd get for VIP membership. Priority/Discounts from your sponsors? VIP lap dance at the clubhouse? Free slice of pizza and a schlitz before 3p every third tuesday?

  14. I cant pay 4.99 a month when I can turn on 96.7 FM or 1310 and get quality sports talk and opinions plus Gordo for free. well I do have to put up with Corby, but you take the bad with the good..

    1. You have no idea what quality sports talk is because neither of those stations provide it.

    2. Yeah and Richie sure does provide it huh?? Oh wait he was shit canned from the radio because of low ratings.

    3. how do you explain the ticket has all the highest rated sports shows in the market. I read Bob Sturm's blog and he does not charge for it. Richie I like your website but just cant do the 4.99 a month for a blog... what else will be on there. also if Richie was offered a job on the Ticket he would take it in a minute.

    4. The key words here are "offered a job on the Ticket". I don't think Cat or Dan Bennett are that desperate.

    5. Is Jake Z a bigger local media celeb than Richie? It could be argued that he is. Would Richie take the Saturday A.M. board op gig at the Ticket, and maybe work his way up to the Shake Joint when Jake takes over the hardline in 2025?

    6. Jake's an interesting comparison. For years, he and TC have put out IJB for free, building an audience and learning how to do radio in the process. When they did need money for new equipment, they did a kick starter and people were more than happy to pay.

Even though they've both been promoted and Jake's got the weekend show and Mavs postgame, they still "work for free" by recording IJB.

If they'd decided early on to start charging for their podcast, it never would have taken off they probably wouldn't have seen the same success at The Ticket.

  17. I guess Richie's 5 subscribers are going to get screwed out there $.25 today.

  18. Seriously $5.00 isn't much, but when compared to other subscription-based sites the amount of content here is seriously lacking. Sorry Richie but I'm out...

  19. Apparently Richie is going with the "Charge More, Provide Less" strategy.
