WHITT'S END: 11.4.13

Whether you're at the end of your coffee, your day, your week or even your rope, welcome to Whitt's End:

*Let me get this get straight: When Tony Romo throws a late-game interception against the Broncos he "always" chokes. But when he throws a late-game touchdown against the Vikings he's "lucky" he was playing a 1-7 opponent. Yep, seems like you're judging him on a totally fair and rational scale.

*Cowboys 27, Vikings 23: My Top 10 Whitty Comments are over at NBC 5's Blue Star Blog.

*A 30-year-old bullying a teammate? Threatening texts and racially charged voice mails? Where was all this drama in 2012 while we were all bored to death by Hard Knocks: Miami Dolphins? And, no, for those of you asking: Richie Cognito is not my nefarious alter ego. Yet.

*Two of the worst words you can hear: "Let's talk." "It's flat." And, of course, "Fall Back." I love the NBA and I'm a kid at Christmas, but I'm always bummed this time of year by setting the clocks back an hour. We'll burn through the extra hour of sleep in a day or two, but the diminished daylight and looming cold weather will be here to stay for months. Can't wait until March 9, when we get to Spring Forward.

*Hey, um, "baseball town", what gives? Last week's decisive Game 6 of the World Series drew only a 7.9 TV rating in Dallas-Fort Worth, ranking 38th out of the country's 56 metered markets. In Boston it earned a 55.5.

   *Hot.

   *Not.

  2. The Cowboys lack of running game will be the reason they wind up 8-8 this year. And if they happen to make the playoffs with that record....they will be one and done in the playoffs. Now with that said, why is the running game so shitty. I think the offensive line is well..."offensive." Because of Jones' idiotic drafting and overall team financial mismanagement, the Cowboys are relying on guys as starters that would be lucky to make most teams practice squads. Brian Waters going down is really going to start showing. And God forbid they lose another starter on the offensive line, things could get really ugly. And if you noticed, it is not just the running game. Romo is also under pressure constantly and getting sacked and hit even more often. A pass heavy offense will get you past crappy teams, but good balanced teams will take away the pass and make you run. You can also expect the defense to take a dive next week against the Saints and Drew Brees.....hello 5 and 5.

    1. She looks so much hotter than the "hot". Richie's obviously very much into the "fake" hot look rather than natural hot.

  4. Seems since the advent of this blog, all I can picture is Whitt on his knees with Romo on the right and Obama on the left with both elbows working overtime. Wear goggles buddy. I think they are feeling your strong love.

    1. Sounds like you're familiar with that technique. Can Richie borrow a pair of your goggles? I'm sure you have a few pair.

  5. I respect the need for a running game, however, the Saints, and Packers both have recently won Super Bowls with little to no running game. It's a passing league.

This team will probably make the playoffs because the rest of the NFC east is terrible this year.

Once you are there, know the heck knows. Hell, Tampa Bay stayed with Seattle for 4 quarters. The Jets beat the Saints. We all predicted that one didn't we?

  9. I came to the conclusion today that Stephen Jones is even more exhausting than his daddy when it comes to bullshit rhetoric regarding the state of the Cowboys.

  10. When it is all done they will still be 8-8. Wake me when it is over.

Winter is measured in days. 15 or so in December, all of January and Feb and then lo and behold it is spring again. April is our first dose of sweat and it doesn't quit until we get back around to this time of year again. I absolutely despise summer now. I look forward to this time of year. Not the least of which is watching females caught out in a cold front wearing skimpy t-shirt, short skirt and flip flops. First I laugh as I see them run from vehicle to building and then I try to get a glimpse of nipplage. I am convinced that women do not pay the least bit of attention to the weather until they turn at least 50 and can't seem to fathom the idea that come November it is time to put away the sandals. If you are outside for a living rather than in some environmentally controlled building the day it doesn't get over 70F is heavenly. I can string work lights and work til the sun comes up the next day. I can put on more clothes, eat hearty and go so far as to get battery powered socks if I have a mind to, but summer means the relentless hammer of the sun upon the earth. I won't miss it even a little.

  11. Not sure how the tweet was worded, but when I've heard it discussed it has been stated that the cowboys are 16-1 in the last couple seasons against teams that FINISHED the years under .500, not the team's current record at the time they played the cowboys. Which makes a lot more sense.
